Concerned parents and students took to the steps of the Georgia State Capitol today to protest an unfair ruling made yerterday by the state's Supreme Court.
At least 400 gathered this morning calling on lawmakers to enact legislation that would keep their charter schools open. State Rep. Jan Jones appeared at the rally, and announced that she would be introducing a constitutional amendment next year that would allow for the state to authorize charter schools. The crowd vowed to call on their legislators to support Jones' legislation.
Sen. Chip Rogers, also appearing before the crowd, told protestors to "keep coming back to the capitol day, after day, after day, until you find 128 people in the House and 38 Senators that will say yes."
It is vital that Georgia's legislators take a stand against the Supreme Court's decision to hinder school choice in the state. They must fight for Georgia's future, and students' right to receive a quality education that best fits their educational needs.
