In Florida, momentum continues to build for new digital learning legislation. The Florida Alliance for Choices in Education today endorsed SB1620, legislation designed to open access to more online public school options. The FACE support is significant as it represents all the stakeholders - parents, school choice advocates, the Florida Virtual School and many of the state approved providers. The group worked for several months to develop a consensus agenda and SB1620 is in large part a product of their collective effort. The legislation will allow every Florida student access to a full-time online school, whether it be provided by the Florida Virtual School, a school district, a virtual charter school or a private provider. It's the sort of approach that has proven successful in over twenty other states and would help Florida move from the back of the pack in terms of access to full-time online public schools.
