On Thursday, Indiana's State Senate approved what will be the largest voucher program in U.S. history. The Telegraph reports that this program "will eventually allow 63 percent of all families in Indiana to take their public funds to a private school if they so choose."

Following in the footsteps of Washington, D.C.'s recently-approved voucher program, many students from low income families will be afforded the opportunity to attend a private school of their choice, using the money that the government would have spent on their public school education. Expanding vouchers is a step in the right direction in providing more students with the ability to receive a quality education of their choice. More needs to be done to ensure that all students, no matter where they live, or what their family's financial situation may be, are able to receive the kind of education that prepares them to be the leaders of tomorrow.
