The American Federation for Children hosted its second annual National Policy Summit this week at the Washington Marriott in Washington, DC. The group, which is one of the nation's largest school choice organizations, aims to educate policy leaders and other people of influence on the importance of a parent's right to choose the education that works best for their child's needs.

The event featured headlining speeches by Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett, and former chancellor of D.C. public schools and founder of Students First Michelle Rhee.

In his remarks, Gov. Walker said "Every kid deserves the opportunity to have a great education."

"Until we fix the education system - not just for the 20,000 in the choice program - until we fix it for everyone, we're not only going to miss out on the moral imperative, we're going to miss out on the economic opportunity," Walked continued. "That's where these reforms come into play."
