5 million American students grades four through eight put their pencils to paper this year and tested their domestic and international geography knowledge in the National Geographic Society's National Geographic Bee.
Andrew Anderton, a sixth grader at the Hawaii Technology Academy is one of 54 students across the United States remaining in the national competition.
Anderton will compete in Washington, DC this month for a chance to advance to the finals. The top ten finalists will compete on May 25 in a competition moderated by Jeopardy host Alex Trebek.
In addition to bragging rights, the national champion will also be awarded a $25,000 scholarship.
