Save the Insight School of Oklahoma!
The Oklahoma Department of Education is considering a proposal that would require all alternative education programs to solely conduct attendance in-person.
That means, full-time online programs, including Insight School (ISOK), would no longer be able to provide its alternative education program.
Your student and their ISOK classmates deserve better than this misguided policy.
Without ISOK, Oklahoma's most vulnerable students lose
Student profile:
- 23% of students with disabilities (vs. 18% state average)
- 66% of students are economically disadvantaged (vs. 56%)
The top three reasons students enroll in ISOK:
- Concerns about the mental health of the student
- Catch up academically
- Concerns about the environment of their previous school

Email Public Comment to the State Board of Education
The proposed rule is open for public comment. All comments must be received by 4:30 PM on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. Written comments may be submitted by email to rules@sde.ok.gov.
Some things to include in your email:
- Attention Oklahoma State Board of Education
- I am writing to add my comment on the proposal 210:35-29-8 requirements for alternative education programs.
- The state of Oklahoma Board of Education should not pass this proposal as it will impact some of Oklahoma’s most vulnerable students, including my own child.
- Discuss how ISOK has helped your family.
- I urge the Oklahoma State Board of Education and Department of Education to oppose this proposed rule.
